Microsoft Live Search Caters To Skiers
Microsoft Live Search has announced a new feature for skiers and snowboarders. Live Search users can search for any ski resort within the United States or Canada and get current weather conditions alongside a link to the ski resort Web site and relevant maps. Skiers can also use the new Microsoft service to get conditions on favorite ski areas or those states that have the most new snow.
Microsoft Buys Cell-Phone Software Developer Danger
Microsoft today has agreed to acquire cell-phone software developer Danger. Privately held Danger, is a software and service provider that enables cell-phone users to browse the Web, access e-mail and send and receive instant messages. Microsoft said the transaction will align Danger’s nearly 10 years of experience in the mobile consumer space with Microsoft’s mobile platforms.
AOL advertising executive Dave Morgan has announced he is leaving AOL to explore entrepreneurial opportunities, specific to the digital advertising space. Morgan joined AOL less than 8 months ago following AOL’s $275 million purchase of Tacoda, the online advertising network Morgan founded in 2001. Prior to founding Tacoda, Morgan started the Real Media ad network.
U.S. Internet Users View Record Breaking 10 Billion Videos Online in December
As a possible result of the Hollywood writers strike, comScore has released data marking December as a record breaking month for the most videos viewed online since comScore initiated its tracking service. U.S. Internet users viewed 10 billion videos online, with top-ranked property Google Sites accounting for nearly one out of every three videos viewed.
