Click Fraud On The Rise
According to data from Click Forensics, click fraud rose 15 percent in 2007, with 16.6 percent of all clicks on Web advertisements measured as fraudulent. The average click fraud rate of cost per click advertisements that are displayed on content networks such as Google’s AdSense and Yahoo’s Publisher Network was up 47 percent compared to the 4th quarter last year, with a 28.3 percent click fraud rate, according to Click Forensics. The data shows that nearly one out of every three clicks on a Google or Yahoo ad is fraudulent.
According to a recent survey by research firm Superbrands, Google is the number one brand, replacing BBC, in the UK. Those surveyed include 1,500 business professionals and what Superbrands calls a council of senior business leaders. The list is intended to reflect the brands that have the best reputation. Notably, Google is the only firm in the top 50 to have been established after 1990.
For professionals who like to network on the go, business networking Web site LinkedIn has released a mobile version with basic functions enabling members to look up people’s profiles, invite people to join your network, and see updates from your contacts. LinkedIn has more than 19 million registered users worldwide, representing 150 industries.
eBay auction listings have fallen 13% since eBay sellers began a strike on February 18th because of changes in eBay’s fee structure and feedback policy. John Donahoe, who became eBay's CEO in March, recently announced the changes which cut the cost to list items by 25% to 50%, but increased the commission that eBay charges for completed sales, starting last Wednesday. As of May, sellers will no longer be able to leave negative feedback comments for buyers, which sellers have complained does little to protect them.
