Webmaster Opportunity to Chat With Google Friday
Webmasters will have the opportunity to join a Google live group chat this Friday March the 28th that will enable those interested to call in and ask questions to Google employees. All that’s needed to participate is a phone, a Web browser, and an Internet connection.
Yahoo and CRL Supercomputer Collaborate on Cloud Computing Research
Yahoo will join forces with Computational Research Laboratories to collaborate on Cloud Computing Research. CRL’s machine, the fourth fastest supercomputer in the world, will be made available to Indian academic institutions, which will also utilize Yahoo supported software Apache Hadoop to conduct research. Apache Hadoop is an open source distributed computing platform. The Yahoo and CRL effort is intended to leverage CRL’s expertise in high performance computing and Yahoo’s technical leadership in Apache Hadoop to bridge the gap between traditional supercomputing and cloud computing research in India. This is the latest effort by Yahoo to compete with Google, which has its own cluster computing initiatives.
Yahoo! HotJobs Launches Insights-Driven Job Search Ranking System
Yahoo HotJobs has announced the launch of its new patent pending job search ranking system called R.E.A.L, which stands for Relevance, Engagement, Availability, and Location. R.E.A.L aims to make the recruiting process more efficient by using Yahoo technology to provide recruiters better access to job seekers. By integrating Yahoo’s behavioral targeting and search optimization strengths, Yahoo HotJobs now ranks jobs listings based on user engagement and according to Yahoo the new system has seen the number of applicants per job listing increase by 25 percent. Yahoo HotJobs has increased job candidate traffic to the website by more than 50 percent and has become the fastest growing Web site among the leading online job properties, surpassing Monster.com in the US, according to data from research firm ComScore.
