Micrososft Live Maps Update Release
Microsoft has released a new version of its Live Maps service including a feature that lets users export information to GPS devices, improved 3G imagery in Las Vegas, Denver, Dallas, and Phoenix and a new feature called MapCruncher integration, which enables users to apply layers of information on top of any map. MapCruncher integration could be used to label buildings on top of a university or to apply a seating chart over a stadium, for example. Other updates include Safari and IE 8 compatibility, 1 click direction improvements, and neighborhood subscribe via GeoRSS, to name a few.
AdBrite Opens Platform To Techology That Targets Ads
AdBrite, which calls itself “the Internet’s Ad Marketplace” has announced the launch of its Open Targeting Exchange, in which AdBrite will open its platform to other advertising technologies with the goal of discovering the best approach to targeted ads. The OTX system works by delivering ads based on varied targeting algorithms when a visitor views a page on an AdBrite publisher’s site, to determine which targeting technology works best. Targeting options include geographic, demographic, retargeting, contextual and behavioral. If OTX works as planned, advertisers can reach the people they want, publishers can charge more for the ads, and Web users benefit with more relevant ads. AdBrite hopes OTX will help it better compete with the larger ad networks like Google and Yahoo. AdBrite expects that the ability to build on its existing tools will help spur some innovation in attempts to discover the best approach to targeted ads.
