Blinkx Launches Video Search Platform for Site Publishers
Video search firm Blinkx has launched a video search platform called AMP aimed at Web site publishers, that uses technology from its video search engine to provide the ability to categorize, organize and index video clips and make them easily searchable by site visitors. Blinkx will offer four packages, available as conventional software or as hosted software as a Web service, with prices ranging from tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands of dollars and includes one piece designed for handling video content that includes search functionality and a feature to match and link the publisher's videos with its text articles. Another component adds an element of community, suggesting relevant videos to users based on their previous choices and on a clips' overall popularity. A third Blinkx product automates the categorization of clips in the video library by generating a taxonomy based on the videos included. Finally, AMP also uses technology for providing search engine optimization to the video clips so that they can be more fully and accurately indexed by leading search engines.
