Google Highlights Web Security For Enterprise, Cuts Price
As reported yesterday on SearchEngineWorld, organizations looking for more affordable alternatives to Microsoft’s Office Suite are experimenting with other options, including Google Apps Premier Edition. In a recent related advancement, and in a move to entice corporate users to its products, Google has slashed the price of its Google Web Security for Enterprise system powered by Postini by 40 percent and added a new option that protects employees working on wireless networks. Google Web Security for Enterprises allows administrators to set policies that limit user access to sites and monitor browsing habits. All off-network web traffic is automatically directed to a scanning infrastructure to enforce policies and protect computers, requiring no action on the part of individuals, according to Google product marketing manager Tim Johnson. Previously, using Google Web Security for Enterprises outside a company network had required users to manually log-in through a virtual private network.
Truveo Spreads Internationally With Tweaked Video Search Algorithms
Video search engine Truveo, owned by AOL, will expand its improved search algorithm to 17 International areas, in a move aimed at delivering localized sites for the various countries, with improved search results. Among the countries are England, France, Spain, Turkey, Brazil, Mexico, Italy, Australia, Hong Kong, Korea, Japan and China. As Truveo works to expand internationally and introduce vertical markets to its service, the main challenge it faces is delivering correct content based on each local demographic, a challenge also faced by video sharing site YouTube as it expanded with its internationally localized sites, such as India-specific version YouTube launched earlier this week.
