Initiative For High Speed Internet
In an attempt to keep up with the growing demand for high speed Internet access, some 60 towns and small cities have built state-of-the-art fiber networks, capable of speeds faster than most existing connections from cable and telecom companies. Cable and telecom companies are meanwhile focusing efforts to upgrade their services, but on larger U.S. cities first, while also expressing great opposition to municipalities entering the broadband business. The U.S., once a leader in technological innovation continues to fall behind a growing number of countries in speed, cost, and availability of high speed Internet, shifting more attention on Internet policy in the U.S and what changes should follow.
News Corp Launches Global Ad Network, Worthnet.Fox
News Corporation is launching an International online ad network called Worthnet.Fox that will focus on financial news and advice, specific to executives who do business on a global level. The network includes 30 Web site publishers including Dow Jones's properties The Wall Street Journal, Barron's and MarketWatch. According to Reuters, Worthnet.Fox comes as a response to Dow Jones' growing international presence, and will help the media conglomerate develop in new areas like Latin America.
AOL has announced the launch of ParentDish.com, to accompany AOL Body, AOL Food, AOL Home and StyleList.com as part of the AOL Living Network, which is one of the top three women’s sites in terms of unique visitors. The parent focused Web site features videos, blog posts, news and celebrity contributors who provide content meant for families with children of all ages, regarding everyday issues. ParentDish will be an ad supported network which will offer both display advertising from its Platform-A ad network as well as content-targeted links provided by Quigo.
