Kaiser Teams With Microsoft Health Vault For Pilot Project

Google Health, Microsoft Health Vault, Revolution Health, and Aetna SmartSource all have at least one thing in common: a goal to be the dominant online destination for health related information, with Microsoft Health Vault and Google Health vying to be the leader in consumer controlled health records. But this time its Microsoft which will get a boost in the race toward dominance in the online health sector, with the announcement that it will partner with Kaiser Permanente, the nation’s largest nonprofit health maintenance organization, to offer a pilot project to Kaiser employees. If successful, the product linking Kaiser’s patient information with Microsoft’s personal health-record service will be offered to Kaiser’s 8.7 million members. Other collaborative pilot projects involving Microsoft, include the Mayo Clinic and NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. And for Google, they include the Cleveland Clinic and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.

JetBlue LiveTV Unit To Buy Verizon Communications Airfone

Last week on Searchengineworld we reported JetBlue airways was expanding its test of in-flight service offerings to include the addition of an in flight version of shopping service Amazon.com and Instant messaging and email services from a slue of additional Web mail providers. It appears JetBlue may have bigger plans moving forward to meet the demand of passengers interested in email and broadband Internet services during flights. JetBlue ‘s LiveTV unit, which right now provides that satellite based television programming in flights, will buy Verizon Communications Airfone network. The acquisition should boost LiveTV’s ability to expand its test service to offer email and messaging services to all interested airlines.
