AOL Revenue Sharing Program Announced For AIM Developers
AOL is hoping to draw developers to its Open AIM developer platform with the introduction of AIM money, a revenue sharing program that provides any developer who devises a popular instant messaging based application the opportunity to profit from advertising supplied by AOL’s Platform A. Participating in AOL Money is free, with the only requirement that developers include a display ad widget that runs alongside web or software based AIM mashups in order to get paid.
Apple MobileMe.com service Syncs Email, Contacts & Other Data
Accompanying yesterdays announcement regarding the new iPhone at the Worldwide Developers conference, Apple announced the successor of its .Mac service, dubbed MobileMe.com, a cloud storage solution that lets users sync and access real time email, contacts and data between an iPhone and other devices. The MobilMe service, which also works with Mail, iCal, and Address Book on the Macintosh and Outlook on Windows, also offers online storage for documents, files, and photos. Current .Mac users will be automatically upgraded July 11th, when the subscription service becomes available. It's priced at $99 per year with 20 GB of storage, with the option to purchase additional storage available.
