Google, Yahoo To Search Inside Flash Files

Web designers and webmasters can now develop flash-based websites that will easily and automatically be indexed by the leading search engines. Adobe announced it will provide optimized Adobe Flash Player technology to Google and Yahoo to enhance search engine indexing of the Flash file format and uncover information that was previously undiscoverable by the search engines. The change should increase the accuracy of search results by enabling the search engines to understand what's inside of Rich Internet Applications and other rich web content created with Adobe Flash technology. Web designers and webmasters need take no action for Google to start indexing a flash-based website, thanks to an algorithm developed to explore flash files in the same way that a person would, by clicking buttons, entering input, and so on. The algorithm remembers all of the text that it encounters along the way, and makes that content available for indexing by the search engines. Google has already started integrating Adobe Flash Player technology, while Yahoo is expected to start the update to Yahoo search in the near future.

Digg To Launch Recommendation Engine

Digg is rolling out what its called a Recommendation Engine in beta test form offered to some of its registered users based on a random sampling of those logged in. The Recommendation Engine is meant to collect personal usage information to suggest new, relevant content that can sometimes be difficult to find as the website becomes more popular. The recommendations are based on a users Digg activity, as well as that users network and should provide a hand filtering through the 16,000 new stories submitted to Digg each day. Digg hopes the enhanced community feature will help continue to expand its social network.
