AdBrite Launches Behavioral Targeting Network
Online Advertising Marketplace AdBrite is expanding its offerings to include a behavioral targeting network, enabling advertisers to reach users across the 70,000 active websites within the AdBrite marketplace. The AdBrite behavioral targeting network will enable advertisers to target ads to people based on habits and 14 interest categories or over 3,000 more specific subcategories such as automotive or careers. Publishers stand to benefit from increased earning potential by using AdBrite to run behaviorally targeted ads on their sites. Pricing is set via a real time auction and for now the program is limited to a select group of advertisers on an invitation-only basis. AdBrite is the latest in a string of companies launching behavioral targeting products, including Veoh and ValueClick.
Amazon’s S3 hosted storage service, for the second time this year suffered outages yesterday that lasted up to 6 hours, causing issues for the range of Web 2.0 websites and applications it supports. Despite the recent drawback, the Amazon service is popular among startups because it provides an affordable and usually reliable alternative to developers, who would otherwise have to carry the upfront costs of setting up their own storage solution as well as the ongoing costs of maintenance and scaling in house storage servers.
The world’s largest social networking website Facebook is gearing up to release a profile redesign meant to give users more control and to curb new forms of spam termed BACN. The redesign, also intended to provide a more clean and simple appearance, includes a more prominently placed and expanded “Wall”, to place more emphasis on users activity updates and communication through posted comments or photos. Applications are no longer prominently placed, with only eight or less showing up on the sidebar, with the others now included under a tab labeled boxes. Other changes include a new “Bio” box, tabs that not only contain applications, but also separate a users wall, info and photos, with the ability to add extra tabs, along with the ability to add pictures or video.
