Google Releases Insight For Search
Google has announced the release of an extension to its free Google Trends tool that charts the popularity of certain search terms across geographic regions, cities, and languages, allowing Google users to see actual numbers associated with the search terms on a graph, available for download to a spreadsheet. Insight For Search, as the new free tool is called, is designed with the marketer in mind, but it can be utilized by any user. Insight for search provides a more in depth analysis on tracking search behavior than Google Trends, with the ability to categorize and organize the data to distinguish for example searches for jaguar the car or jaguar the animal and the ability to slice the data into finer geographic areas to view on a special heat map. Users also have the ability to compare search volume trends across multiple search terms, categories, otherwise commonly called verticals, geographic regions, or specific time ranges. The update now gives marketers more control as to how to effectively target ads geographically, with added insight into more specifics surrounding search behavior.
