Google Blocks Web Position Gold Ranking Reports
Google offers guidelines for Webmasters on its support page that outline how to help Google effectively find, index and rank any website, noting the importance of paying close attention to the “Quality Guidelines” listed to prevent a site from being removed entirely from the Google index or otherwise penalized. One point listed under Quality Guidelines as a basic principle says:
“Don't use unauthorized computer programs to submit pages, check rankings, etc. Such programs consume computing resources and violate our Terms of Service. Google does not recommend the use of products such as WebPosition Gold™ that send automatic or programmatic queries to Google.”
Members of the Webmasterworld community forum are reporting that it now appears Google is taking action on its word and has blocked WebPosition Gold from reporting rankings from their tool. No official announcement from Google has been made regarding the change.
