Google Adds New Features To Website Optimizer Tool

Google’s Website Optimizer is a tool that lets users, including website owners, marketers and webmasters test variations of the content of any webpage, such as the title or bullet points, to determine what page variation will be most effective at getting the desired results from a website. In response to user requests, the Google Website Optimizer team this week announced three new updates to the free tool at the Search Engine Strategies conference taking place in San Jose, California. Website Optimizer now makes it possible to disable one or more test combinations, most commonly poor performing variations, from taking part in the Website Optimizer experiment in what is called Experiment Pruning to achieve more effective and faster results by sending the traffic from those poor performing variations to the better performing variations. A/B Offline Validation ensures tagged pages, such as test or goal pages, that aren’t accessible to Website Optimizer can be uploaded to ensure tagging is done properly. What’s more is Website Optimizer now offers more intuitive reporting, to provide more clarity on how test combinations are performing, and to more accurately determine one or more likely winning combinations to avoid drawing false conclusions from results or from ending experiments early.
