Google Docs Adds Thesaurus, Dictionary, Encyclopedia, and Image Search
Google is making its way across the United States, stopping at campuses along the way, as part of the App to School bus tour meant to connect with students using Google Apps Education Edition. Coinciding with the event, Google has rolled out some new features for Google Docs including a dictionary and thesaurus, an encyclopedia, and image search, just in time for students headed back to school, but sure to prove useful for everyone. Google Docs users can now highlight a word to look up its definition and synonym using Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary. Along with the dictionary and thesaurus, available in the Tools menu, is the Encyclopedia Britannica, enabling users to look up a term directly from within Docs. Image search lets users find and insert images directly into Google documents, also available in the Tool menu, and is as simple as highlighting the associated word or phrase. The features are, for now, only available in English.
