At the recent 2008 PubCon conference in Las Vegas online marketing and training company Tandem Interactive founder and president Joe Laratro moderated dozens of speaker sessions in his role as the conference’s lead moderator and liaison, and SearchEngineWorld video content producer Vanessa Zamora had the opportunity to talk with him about his company and the growth of PubCon.

In their video interview, Laratro shared some of his experiences with online training and education at Tandem, which he launched in 2006 after many years working in the search marketing industry, and how his company has succeeded in providing marketing services for clients such as Fortune 500 company Cash4Gold.

Laratro spoke with Zamora about how Web stores are likely to change into a more visually-rich virtual-world-like environment over the next decade, and some of the challenges these changes are likely to present. He spoke about the personalization of search and learning more about the intent of search engine users, and how Web designers have managed to weather the storm during the economic downtown.

In the Las Vegas interview Laratro spoke with Zamora about the direction the PubCon conference has taken and how session moderators help facilitate the best attendee experiences.

Laratro offered his thoughts on the challenges of trying to prevent overlapping information during conference sessions, and explained how some speakers have developed innovative techniques for interacting with audiences, such as Purpose Inc. chief executive David Klein, who conducted a live link-building activity in one PubCon session.

The interview video also featured Laratro sharing his views on the importance of keeping PubCon focused on a more technically advanced track than some conferences, by making certain that speakers don’t explore only theories but also offer real-world case studies.

Before concluding their video interview Laratro spoke about two of the strongest themes he saw resonating among the crowds at PubCon – the increasing use of Twitter and social media sites.
