Mountain View, California-based Internet search giant Google saw strong September search query volume with in increase of 35 percent from the previous quarter and 38.6 percent from the same month in 2007, according to new figures due to be released by Web traffic analysis company comScore. The impact of a potentially significant nearly 1 percent drop in Google's share of the search market in the United States, from a figure of 63 percent recorded in August to a 62.2 percent share in September, was lessened by the strong year-over-year and quarterly query volume figures reported by the Reston, Virginia-based comScore. Sunnyvale, California-based Web pioneer Yahoo saw its share of the U.S. search market rise by 0.4 percent from August, to 20.0 percent. Microsoft saw its audience increase by 0.1 percent in September, to 8.4 percent, according to the monthly comScore analysis data. The fourth position was held by IAC/InterActiveCorp's Ask.com with 5.4 percent of the U.S. search market, an increase of 0.6 percent from August.
