Google takes a play out of Elons book, and starts to delete parts by making changes they say are aimed at simplifying the search results page.
In a post titled “An update on our efforts to simplify the search results page”. Which is strange since most commentary on SERPS have been they are more complex, convoluted, and obfuscated than ever before. All designed to get people to click more ads. Just last week, even Barry Schwartz calling Google out on trick-the-user ads.
*sigh*
Google says it’s removing some structured data types and other underused features that don’t significantly impact user behavior. The company claims these elements add clutter and slow down the overall search experience.
What's really interesting here is that Google has yet to publicly say what data types are dying (red flag).
For now, we should keep an eye on structured data docs to see what they actual to deprecate...
