In Dec of 2022, Google CEO Sundar Pichai famously called a “code red” meeting. It moved Google to it’s highest threat level in it’s history. Google shipped so many AI products today, that it really appears as though Google has dialed back the threat level.
Clearly Google has leveraged the monopoly power of the search engine to force feed the internet AI Search without regard for whether users want this or not. You can tell Google knows a majority of people don’t want this simply because, Google didn’t give them the option to turn it off. Even the famous WTF Google no longer works.
Lets look at stuff talked about at IO today:
AI Mode in Search
But wait, it’s on a tab: Google introduced “AI Mode” in its Search platform, set to launch for users in the United States. Described as a fully integrated AI experience, this new tab aims to transform the way people interact with Search.
Gemini 2.5 Pro Deep Think
While currently Vaporware – G announced Gemini 2.5 Pro Deep Think, a research tool leveraging parallel thinking techniques. This enhanced reasoning mode is designed to simulate more human-like problem-solving by considering multiple hypotheses before responding. Currently, Deep Think is being tested by a select group of trusted users, with plans for broader availability in the future.
Google Beam: 3D Video Calls
Google Beam, formerly known as Project Starline, was officially introduced as a high-fidelity video communication platform. This technology aims to revolutionize virtual meetings by providing immersive 3D video call experiences.
Real-Time Translation in Google Meet
Now this is uber cool: Google Meet is rolling out a live translation feature, making multilingual communication more seamless during virtual meetings. Powered by Gemini AI, this feature enables real-time speech translation, enhancing global collaboration and understanding.
