It started simple enough. I was just watching your average AI generated video staring Big foot. Then things took a slow turn. At first he was just insulting bambi, or joining ICE, but then it was something much darker. It started on TikTok and then it cross posted to many other social video platforms racking up millions of views in the process. Even Red Lobster was sucked into the melee.
Just as google releases an update Veo3, a watchdog group Media Matters uncovered viral, eight-second AI videos on TikTok created using Google’s Veo 3—depicting Black people as primates, invoking stereotypes around watermelon, fried chicken, violence, immigration, antisemitism, and more. One clip hit 14 million views; others reached the millions on TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube (-Verge).
The only question is when does this start for brands? Clearly the tech is easy enough that sooner or later, video attacks will come for large brands. Monitoring your brand, brand names, trademarks, and employee collateral is more important than ever.
Strategies (or Reputation Management 101)
- Content audit and brand monitoring (serps and social)
Use social listening and SERP tracking tools to spot if your site is showing up in contexts related to AI-fabricated or hateful material. Remove or clarify ambiguous content. Respond quickly. - Optimize with facts, transparency, and over kill on references
If tackling AI ethics, moderation, or deepfake topics, link to credible sources—like The Verge, Media Matters, Wired, TIME—and timestamp your posts. Trust-building SEO is based on verifiable citations and authority. - Flag and link to false narratives
If an AI deepfake is trending, consider publishing debunking content. Google’s Fact Check labels favor corrected, authoritative content. SEOs who produce thoughtful counter-narratives gain SERP placement and build trust. - Incorporate AI safety keywords
When targeting verticals like AI governance, tech brand safety, or digital ethics, introduce terms like “deepfake dangers,” “AI bias safeguards,” “hate speech moderation,” and “SynthID detection.” These align with news coverage and user queries. - Prepare a rapid-response content toolkit
Build template pages or microsites that address AI controversies—“X tool used to spread racism” or “viral AI videos rebuttal.” Keep them ready to publish so you can ride the wave of trending searches immediately.
Here is even Google showing you how to make these kinds of Veo3 videos:
