Microsoft Introduces the New Bing Places for Business

On October 3, 2025, Microsoft launched a revamped Bing Places for Business experience, designed to be easier, smarter, and more deeply integrated with the rest of the Bing ecosystem.

The entire Bing Places ux has been redirected to bing.com/forbusiness — moving away from the old bingplaces.com domain.  Existing users and listings are being automatically migrated; when you log in with your old Bing Places u/id, you’ll be redirected to the new setup.

Smarter import - improved management

One of the most significant usability improvements is a more robust Google-to-Bing import flow. The new import setup tool preserves key business attributes (name, hours, contact info) to reduce manual overhead.

Beyond that, the interface now includes:

  • Bulk editing
  • Real-time stats and health indicators
  • A dashboard-style management

3. Recommendation Tool

With the changes, Bing has introduced a Recommendation Tool. This tool analyzes your listing’s health and suggests high-impact actions such as:

  • Adding photos
  • Completing missing but important fields (website link, hours, social links)
  • Segment-specific suggestions (e.g. adding a menu or order link for restaurants)

Which is very cool Bing - very cool. It’s essentially a guided prompt system to help your listing stand out.

4. What’s next (coming additions)?

Bing signals that this is just the first phase. Planned future enhancements include:

  • Tighter integration with Bing Maps and Copilot
  • Expanded support for agencies and partners
  • Continued additions to improve usability and listing features

What is bing places you ask?

For those not playing along on the Home edition of "Bing",  Bing Places for Business is Microsoft’s platform that lets businesses manage how their company info appears across Bing Search and Bing Maps.

Bluntly, Bing Places is Microsoft’s version of Google Business Profile or Whatever-google-is-calling-it-this-month. It’s a local business listing tool where you can add your business, verify ownership, and manage the pertinent details like:

  • Business name, address, and phone number (NAP)
  • Website URL and business description
  • Hours of operation and service categories
  • Photos, logos, and special attributes

Where It Appears

Your listing data channels into:

  • Bing Search results (local pack and knowledge panels)
  • Bing Maps
  • Microsoft Copilot and Windows search integrations
  • Partner platforms that use Bing’s map and local data

Why It Matters

  • Local SEO visibility: Bing still powers search results for Windows devices, Edge browser users, and Yahoo Search.
  • Voice assistants: Bing data also influences Cortana, Alexa, and some in-car systems.
  • Verification and trust: Having a verified listing signals legitimacy to Bing’s algorithm, improving ranking in local queries.
  • Free exposure: It’s a no-cost way to reach customers who use Microsoft’s search and map network.

In short: Bing Places = your business’s official listing in the Microsoft search ecosystem. And this our friends, is kinda important stuff.
