Google Labs has rolled out Mixboard, a new experiment aimed at turning brainstorming into a more an interactive process. It is a cross between a mood board and a simple ideation tool.
It lets users drag in text/images and then remix them into organized boards. For SEOs and content strategists, this has a few minor – but interesting – implications:
- Campaign planning – move from scattered docs into visual maps of themes, entities, and assets?
- Content clustering and topical authority building might benefit?
- Teams working on keyword sectors or site architectures can experiment in a more spatial, creative format? Dunno, seems more complicated that simple spreadsheet.
Like all Google Labs projects, Mixboard is experimental – and like all Google projects, there’s no guarantee it sticks around. For SEOs, it’s another reminder: the platform shaping search are also shaping how we think about content.
Honestly, this looks like a killer idea on paper, but knowing Google’s long time ADHD issues with sticking with anything, it seems like another Google+ waste of time, but it will be interesting to watch. SEO’s are giving it a 50/50 of being online in six months. Most likely this will get rolled into another service (this really feels like a simple addon for NotebookLM)
